Thankful Thursday

Great news:
We're thankful that another kitty lost in the fire - Pewter - was just found and reunited with family!

Amy mentioned the other day that this must be something like what the Joplin tornado survivors must have experienced: losing everything and having to rebuild.

We're thankful that - unlike so many in Joplin - neither Amy nor Kathi were injured in the fire.

And we're thankful for healing, and the gift of time.

As we approach the one year anniversary of Joplin, we continue to see stories of hope and healing, and we're thankful that this will eventually come to Amy & Kathi as well.

And we're thankful for the local news outlets, both television and newspapers, who continue to help owners search for their missing pets by spreading the news about them.

One such story is Razor's - the five year old Husky who lived in the apartment across from Amy. His owners had just left to run an errand moments before the fire....

    1. We do indeed! And one of those things is the invention of the microchip - something Pewter had, and that everyone who saw the flyer knew about too (the microchip # was listed on the "LOST" posters).

    1. Us too! Pewter was so spooked they had to use a humane trap to catch him. Reminds us of the relentlessly diligent work of volunteers still going on today after the Joplin tornado -- and how those efforts are still paying off. Just last month, 9 months after the tornado struck, a kitty was reunited with his family!

  5. Pewter wouldn't be Stormy's real name, would it? Still thinking about Stormy. Razor is beautiful. We're not dog people, but he's so beautiful. I hope he's found alive. I'm sure a lot of people lost their pets in the tornados that wiped out several small towns earlier this week. We purrayer for them.

    1. Nope. You ready for Stormy's "official" name on her microchip? *drum roll* Cuddlebug. She is - kinda - but she's soooo playful that we're kinda thinking Stormy's much better!

Owner did not want her back, so we're hunting in earnest for a new home for her.

And Pewter's owners are *ecstatic* to have him back!!

  6. That's great that Pewter was found and sad there are pets that are still missing. I hope there is a good ending for the humans who lost Razor.

    1. We do too! We have to think Razor got out when the police kicked the door in. Now to get the word out that his mommy is looking for him!
