Infographic: The True Cost of Pets

Not long after we scheduled last Monday's post withe the great dog cost calculator "app," we were approached by Help U Cover, a British company that specializes in insurance policies that "fills the gaps other insurance leaves behind". They have created a more comprehensive pet cost estimator we felt was worth sharing.

And for those of you wondering how the British pound converts to other currencies ...
As of a few days ago, it looked like this:

1 British Pound Sterling =  1.55 US Dollars  = 1.68 Australian Dollars = 1.16 Euros

Thanks to Help U Cover for this infographic.

What's that peepers? You mean some peeps have tanks with fish and those fish are pets? And those peeps love the fish like you love me? Really? No... you must be mistaken... Our fish comes in tins of the Fancy Feast. MOUSES!

  5. Wow, that is expensive. With eight cats, it is really expensive. Add in the nine that came before, some living close to 20 years and yowzers! Good thing the humans weren't aware of this prior to adopting any of us. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Misty May, Mauricio, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  6. My human says she has spent more on each of us ALREADY than the lifetime costs for kitties!

  7. I'm surprised at the veterinary costs. When you combine that with pet insurance and compare it to food (cats) it's hard for me to believe. Though I suppose if you have a serious medical condition or emergency, that cost may be more in line.

Currently my biggest expenditure each year is food. 2nd is accessories.

Of course Katie would be thrilled if there were NO vet expenses each year. ; )

  8. We don't know about that fish number. That seems a little high, unless it's for a new salt water setup per fish.

But the cat number... yeah, people need to see this. Then again, would they adopt if they did?

  9. I found the easiest way to convert the pounds thing is put into google hehe. Interesting number with the fish. They are probably more expensive than people might think if you want to do everything right.

  11. OUCH. 1 British Pound = 5.152 Malaysian Ringgit.
    Let's see. 1 dog + 7 cats + 2 guinea pigs + 1 tortoise = .... *thud* (Mommy just fainted).

  13. Hmmm, we are (apparently) getting seriously under-expensed. We want the difference in toys. (We asked for live mice each day, but TBT wouldnt go fer that). We MIGHT get some toys.
