Surgery for our Blue Boy

Maxwell gets to ride shotgun in the car this morning with Momma (which he loves), but he does wonder why he was asked to skip his breakfast (which he did not love).

And he also wonders what "Companion Animal Dentistry" spells out (good thing he can't read).

He skipped breakfast because he'll be anesthetized while they determine the best solution for this:

Yup. It all started when they removed his upper fangs back in February.
Although it made for some adorable photos when those lower fangs kept hooking on his upper lip, it turns out that action has rubbed his face raw. We had hoped it would heal given enough time, but that has not happened, and our veterinarian recommended we see a specialist.

So today, one way or another, that dental specialist will find a solution. We have no idea what it might entail, but we do know how badly he reacted to the anesthesia in February... so we're a bit worried.

Please keep our blue boy in your thoughts today! We'll post updates, we promise.

 ***
We also wish to apologize for not being around much these past few weeks.

Our human grandpa is declining, and has been put on hospice care. Our mom is working hard to help manage the situation and help her mom with tough decisions during this difficult time.

We value your friendship tremendously, and we promise we'll visit as soon as we are able!

Paws crossed for a good solution and that he won't have any problems with the anesthesia this time (will they use something different?). Also purrs and purrayers to your human grandpa, your human grandma and your mom during this very difficult and stressful time. (((Hugs)))

  14. Poor Maxwell! I hope a good solution can be found for your sore mouth. Eric had a very bad reaction to anaesthetic (Domitor) once when he went for a dental and it was put on his records to always be avoided. He never had any problems with other anaesthetic. I am sending purrs for everything to go well.
I am sorry to hear about your human grandpa and send purrs for him and all your family. Don't worry about visiting. We all understand and family must come first.

  17. I am a dog, but I had lip surgery for my nasty condition 18 months ago. I know the pains, but if they get him fixed up right, it will all be worth it. Can't wait to see your less painful cute mug soon.

  20. Raven had a sore on her upper lip after having her upper canine tooth pulled. I'm sure she was biting her lip with her lower fang. It took 3 weeks to heal and thankfully hasn't happened again.
