Sofa Marathon Time!

I'm soooo ready for the weekend, aren't you?
It's a long one here in the U.S., too.

I have it all planned out:
  • Naps with Father on the sofa
  • Watching his favorite shows (while scratching my back and belly)
  • Brushing his fave girlcat (while she naps)
  • More naps with Father

*sigh* Now all I have to do is persuade him to sit down.

Confiscating the remote ought to do the trick, though.
I've noticed he has a rather inordinate fondness for that thing....

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Thursday's Purrs: Sweetie

"Oh, hi! My name is Sweetie, but you can call me Sassy Pants! Or maybe Sweet Tart?

No, I'm not in the middle of an identity crisis at the tender age of four. I've just acquired a few nicknames around here because of my sweet and sassy attitude!"

"Are you looking for a kitty like me? I'm at Pet Project looking for a new family because the family I was with moved out of the country. That's the bad news. The good news is that I'm an experienced pet-and a wonderful one, too, if I do say so myself. So I'm all set to make your family complete!

I'm got lots of energy! I love to play and explore and just generally stay busy. I'm curious about everything and want to be in the center of the action. (Confession time: if there isn't any action to be found, I've been known to create a little on my own! )

I'm also known for being friendly to everybody. Well, okay, everybody except birds. I even lived with children before and I really liked them because they were so nice to me! I have to admit that I've been known to hunt a bird or two in my day, though, so it would be better for me to stay inside, or go outside only with your supervision. Um, they say it's probably best if you don't already have a pet bird, too ....

I'm what they call a tree dweller. I like to sleep up high, so it'd be great if you had a tall cat tree or shelf that I could hang out on. Even better if it was near a window so I could keep an eye on all those birds outdoors!

I hope you'll come out to Kansas City Pet Project and meet me soon. I'm so anxious to start being someone's pet once again!

Love, Sweetie"

Sweetie's one of the longest-tenured kitties at KC Pet Project. Let's get her adopted! You can meet her at the Main Campus of KC Pet Project.

Faraday: Uh, Maxie?
I think it'd dead.

Maxwell: What's dead? Your snake?

Faraday: Yeah,  Mister Snakey's dead. I mean, look, Maxie. He's not moving and stuffs.

Maxwell: Are you sure about tha-- LOOK OUT!

Faraday: HALP! It's AFTER me!

(moments later, after the keyboard has been wrestled away from the mom)

Faraday: You'll pay for that, Mommy. I'm not afraid of no snake.

Maxwell: *hides head in paw*

Tell me you did not say that to her, dood.
Have you no sense of self-preservation?
Evidently not.

Is that steam we see coming out Allie's ears?

Any takers on what's
about to happen in 3...2... ?

Thursday's Purrs: Joseph

"Well, helloooooo, ladies."

"My name is Joseph, and I'm a three year old orange moggie just hanging out, looking for a family to love.

I’m an independent kind of guy, maybe a little shy at first. But just you wait! My feline-ality is Party Animal. So once I warm up to my new surroundings, I’m the life of the party.

I'll be out and about to explore and play, and wowza, do I ever love to play! Let you in on a little secret? I looooove wand toys. A LOT."

(I hear Faraday's got the goods on where to score the best ones, too. So if you have any questions, the fine mancats here as A Tonk's Tale can clue us in. Sound like a plan?)

"As far as preferences are concerned, I'd do best in a home that has children over the age of 12 who can give me some space when I need it. Other than that, I'm just easy-peasey lemon-squeezy, all the way.

Could I be the kitty for you?
Come down to Wayside and ask to meet me!

Purrs and headbonks,
Joseph"

Joseph's available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.

Not a Fashion Accessory?

Faraday: Maxie, did you hear Allie say it was fashionable to wear lampshades this season?

I dunno, I mean, I'm smaller than you. This shade's too big for my head. Maybe you should try it.

Maxwell: Dood. You expect me to fall for that again
Fool me once, and all that. I learned my lesson a few years ago.

Faraday: What? You don't wanna be all fashionable and stuffs for the ladycats?
Hey, where are you going in such a hurry ...?

Hmm, guess he's not as gullible as he used to be ....

This Just In: Philanthropy for Pets at Conference

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

"Pawing it forward," matters, as attendees of the upcoming BlogPaws Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, will soon discover.

With 500 pet influencers and social media experts embarking on the 9th Annual BlogPaws Conference taking place May 18-20, 2017 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, the spotlight shines on giving.

BlogPaws expands and affirms its commitment to philanthropic platforms benefiting the human/animal bond as it welcomes multiple pet industry brands and players to this year's conference. From Bayer's PAWS Act initiative dedicated to supporting and rescuing pet parents and pets who are victims of domestic violence to Merrick Pet Care's ongoing initiative in support of K9 For Warriors through its Hero's Banquet food line, there will be several surprises and an enormous outflow of social media, love and money to support these and other cause-related efforts.

"Every year, we try to expand our heartfelt commitment to the human/animal bond. We are extremely fortunate to be working with a wide array of brands in the pet industry that have created extensive programs to reinforce their own dedication," Chloe DiVita, Chief of Everything, for BlogPaws said. "This year's conference promises to be truly inspiring."

Highlights of the philanthropic giving segments of the conference include:
  • Bayer Animal Health and their PAWS Act initiative dedicated to keeping families together and aiding and assisting domestic violence survivors and their pets.
  • Merrick Pet Care joins up with Bleecker Street and LD Entertainment to present a premiere peek at the featurette from the film, "Megan Leavey," the true story of an Iraqi war-based Marine corporal and her K9 Warrior dog. The film exemplifies the power of the human/animal bond.
  • The Cat Rescuers share the story of four volunteers working in Brooklyn to help over one million abandoned and feral cats by implementing a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) technique.
  • Local Myrtle Beach Police K9 Officer, Daisy, will receive a bullet/stab protective vest to protect her from harm in the line of duty.
  • Pet360 Media, the BlogPaws Pet Blogging and Social Media Nose-to-Nose awards sponsor, will donate $500 cash to each of the 14 winners' animal shelter/rescue choices.

The BlogPaws 2017 Conference is capped at approximately 500 attendees, thus providing for a more intimate experience. The conference culminates with the much anticipated, pet blogger awards, "Nose to Nose," a Red Carpet event judged by a distinguished panel of professionals.

Attendees of the BlogPaws Conference will learn how to be the change for pets through action, education, advocacy, social media influence, and blogger intervention. Further initiatives and surprises will convene on site with the human-animal bond/pay-it-forward mantra at their core."

Thursday's Purrs: Leetha

"Hello! My name is Leetha, and I'm a tiny, longhaired tuxedo cat who looooves attention!
(psst: I've been known to let people know if I'm being overlooked, too)

I do have a confession: even though it might be a bit undignified, I do love me some belly-rubbing action.

Bird TV is my fave pastime. What's yours?

"I've been waiting for my humans for a very long time. In fact, I'm one of the longest residents here at KC Pet Project. I fear it might be because I have a minor kidney problem that requires I eat a special diet.

I hope that doesn't scare people off! It's not that big a deal, honest!

Although I'm 14, I still have a lot of love to give, and many years left to give them in. I would love to spend them with you - won't you come meet me?

Purrs,
Leetha"

Leetha's available at the Main Campus of KC Pet Project. Come meet her today!
