Update on Allie
Today our little princess had her very first dental cleaning ever. I (wrongly) assured her it would be a piece of cake.
And it was, to begin with. The veterinarian told us it was a total breeze: very little plaque, and as easy as could be...until they got to the very last tooth.
That's when we began to feel like we were in the movie Groundhog Day: she, too, had tooth resorption. And it was the very worst kind - almost 100% of the roots of her back molar had been reabsorbed into the bone.
These back molars are the most difficult to extract, and Allie is going to be on pain medication for a few days (Bupronorphine, a morphine derivative for cats). And antibiotics, to stave off infection.
Poor little girl. She didn't have much fun today.
Aw, poor Allie. We hope she's feeling better soon.
ReplyDeletePoor Allie. We are sending purrs
ReplyDeletePoor thing! Toofie problems make all of us shudder, including Mommy...we're sending BIG purrs to Allie that the next few days pass quickly with a minimum of pain.
ReplyDeleteAwww... Allie... I feel your pain. But do you know what? When the pain from what the doctor did to your tooth goes away, you'll feel a million percent better. I can practically guarantee it! It won't take long. Just FEELS like forever. A few days on the meds and you're gonna be as good as new. Promise.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Nissy
Oh no. Really sorry to hear this. Sending huge purrs and prayers to Allie for a quick recovery with ease. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
ReplyDeletePoor Allie! We are sending ourrs and prayers to you, sweet girl. We love you!
ReplyDeletePoor Allie...feel better sweet girl!
ReplyDeleteHow old is Allie?
She's only six, and had such good teeth the vet never thought she needed cleaning. Even this time was borderline, just mild plaque. That back tooth had to have been hurting her though, so it's a good thing we decided to get them cleaned.
DeleteShe's feeling loopy now, but I'm sure in a few days she'll be feeling a lot better
ReplyDeletePurrs for all of you
Ugh! Paws down! Feel better soon, Allie!

ReplyDeleteYikes, poor Allie. Tell her Nicki and Derry have been there...Derry actually only has one upper molar left, I believe. The others were removed in June 2010 (he had 9 extractions).
ReplyDeleteShe'll do fine once she's healed, though!
Purrs for speedy healing.
We hope Allie makes a speedy recovery. Poor baby. Have a super Saturday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Poor baby girl. We hope your recovery will be uncomplicated and quick. Sending lots of healing purrs.
ReplyDeletePoor Allie. POTP! Get well soon, Allie.
ReplyDeleteI guess if there's any consolation for the pain you're enduring right now, it's that you won't have that last tooth bugging you anymore.
