[52 Snapshots} Week 49: Bokeh

Don't you just love bokeh? It creates such a magical and lovely sense of depth in a photo. (Just don't ask anyone to pronounce it, 'k? We get tons of arguments at the studio over that one - ha!)

Bokeh: (BOH-kuh (alt. BOH-kay) Japanese: [boke]) -- that aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light".

Here, Allie nibbles at one of the few remaining clumps of green in the yard at dusk. The bokeh captures the light from a neighbor's front porch across the street, as well as the failing sunlight filtering through bare branches. And our little girls' slightly miffed expression (that stuff looks like it's seen a few freezes lately!)

Did you know?

Systolic/diastolic.

That's the two numbers that make up your blood pressure reading: the upper and the lower numbers.
But you can't even get a reading for the lower number on a cat!

It's really hard to take a cat's blood pressure. Especially if your vet doesn't have the right equipment.

These were shot in deep shadow in our front room. All I did was raise the luminance.

I love the sepia cast they have to them. So dramatic and mysterious, in a film noir kind of way.

Allie: It's good for a kitty to count her blessings every once in a while.

I realize I have several. For one, all the nasty, cold, white stuff has forever been banished (until next winter).

And the yard is turning green, the trees are all in bloom....

But I think most of all, I count my biggest blessing...

The brats aren't allowed outside!

Ah, solitude. A blessing, indeed.

{52 Snapshots} Week 14: Foolish

Allie: As the Dignified Feline in the family, the very last thing you would expect is to see me acting foolish.

But I can be as carefree as the next cat.

So I decided to step up to today's challenge.

I know this type of behavior is what you would typically expect from Faraday, and - to a lesser degree - Maxwell.

But I really think anything they can do I can do better. I mean, just look at the raw material in play, after all.

So, here goes.

Of course the tacky Target bag and the almost inedible banana enhance the experience....
