"Hi there, my name is Brody!
Do I look familiar to you?
Allie says I'm her 'brotha from anotha motha' -- or wait, was that CK that said that? All those grey tuxie girlcats confuse me just a bit. And okay maybe intimidate me a teensy bit too - just don't tell anyone I said that, okay?"
"I love wand toys, I do! I'm energetic - and might have just a little bit of kitten left in me, even though I'm a big boy of three years! I hope that's okay with you?
I'm a very enthusiastic player. And purr-er. And cuddle-er. And, uhm, eater, too ....
Won't you come out and say hello? I'd love to find my very own family - VERY soon!
Purrs,
Brody"
Brody is available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
And we have two very unique Oranges to share with you today! (you did know most orange moggies are male, right?)
We're celebrating Orange Girlcat Power here today, with two very Eligible Bachelorettes: Godiva and Ruby.
Up first: Godiva.
"Pleased to meet you! I'm Godiva, and I think they call me that cause I'm very sweet, like those fancy chocolates by the same name."
"I'm so thankful you are taking a moment to read about me. I came to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space, but I'm excited to be here, where I can find my forever person or people.
I don't mean to brag, but I've heard people say that I'm one of the cutest kitties at Wayside. They say I have an adorable little face and and a chubby little body. I have cute little freckles on my nose."
"I'm a very friendly, affectionate girl. I love to have my tummy rubbed and my back scratched. I also enjoy sitting on laps, so if you have one of those, that would be great! At my previous shelter, I was housed with other cats and got along just fine with them.
I also like children. So, if you have a cat or a kid who needs a friend, I may be a good fit."
"There's one more thing you should know about me: I am FIV-positive. But really, FIV isn't as scary as it sounds, honest! It just means that my immune system is somewhat compromised, so it's extra important that I have an indoors-only lifestyle and get good food and regular veterinary care.
That's what any great adopter would give a cat, right? I have my own room at Wayside, and I hope you will drop in on me soon
Love, purrs and orange headbutts,
Godiva"
Next up: RUBY!
"Hello there! My name is Ruby! I think they call me that because of my beautiful red (or orange) coat. Oh, and also because I'm a real gem. I'm a sweet, talkative, domestic shorthair girl who loves people very much."
"I'm declawed on all four paws. I was surrendered to Wayside because my previous person was moving and couldn't take me along. I was pretty scared and shy when I first came to Wayside, but the the wonderful staff and volunteers here have been working with me, and I have come a long way in a pretty short time.
I adore affection, and I love being petted on my neck, head, chin and ears. However, I'm not at all fond of being picked up. For that reason, I should go to a home with no children under the age of 5."
"I really love to play, too, and my favorite toy is a wand toy. It's so much fun! Wayside has a new program called Slumber Paw-ty, where potential adopters can take pets home for a trial run before making a commitment. I am eligible for that program."
So, if you're thinking about adding a ruby-red bundle of sweetness and love to your life, why don't you come to Wayside and check me out?
(Psst! Guess what? You might be able to see me LIVE on Wayside's Kitty Cam today!
Be sure to wave hello if you do!)
I can't wait to meet you!
Love and orange purrs,
Ruby"
These gorgeous orange girls are both available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
*** BlogPaws Nose-to-Nose Awards
BlogPaws is seeking nominations for the blogs you love to read.
Please take a moment to submit your favorites.
The bloggers who work so hard to bring you
entertainment and information will thank you!
As you can see, I'm a gorgeous tortie cat who knows how to enjoy the finer things in life, like treats, feather wands, and the laser dot."
"I also like to relax in nice, dark hiding places, which may be why they call me a "private investigator". I can be a little skittish at first, but I'm very curious and once I feel comfortable I love to explore.
I'll need an adjustment period in my new home to get used to me new surroundings and will do best with my own room for at least a week while we get to know each other through quiet interactions.
I feel best when I'm in control of introductions so I'll let you know when I feel secure enough to venture out and meet my new family. I can co-exist with other furry friends but will need time to introduce myself to them."
"I'm a sweet girl who adores attention and give lots of head butts, kisses, and purrs! My foster mom says I'm totally adorable, and now that I feel comfortable with her I like to initiate some quality petting time by touching her with my paw. (It's okay if you want to squee a little bit at that...)
Please, though...I need a home with no kids under 5 years old. Older kids are fine if they understand that sometimes a kitty needs her personal space."
"I'll do best in a calm, quiet home. Once I warm up we'll be best buds in no time.
I promise I'm worth a little patience and time! I've been here for 273 days now. I'm not strong on math, but that feels like an eternity to me in kitten years, wouldn't you agree?
Come meet me soon, please?
Love,
Bella Ladybug"
Bella's available today - and dying for her very own forever home for the new year! - at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
I came here to Wayside as a stray kitty, and though I have enjoyed my time here, I am ready for a home to call my own. I would love it if that home was with you!"
"As you can tell from my video, I am a very sweet, loving and playful medium-haired red and white handsome boy, who is ready for a furever buddy.
I should let everyone know that I am special feline. When I came here to Wayside I found out that I have a heart defect. I have a double chambered right ventricle. The doctors here at Wayside took me to a heart specialist to make sure I got the care needed, and they say I may have a few less years here than most kitties.
That's okay though. I promise I'll pack a lifetime's worth of love in the time you and I have together. Cross my paws, I will!"
"And seeing as I have no time to waste, could you maybe come see me, today? I would love the chance to meet you in person and then just maybe go home with you, so please come on down!
I'm the cute, playful and totally affectionate one.
Much love,
Harvest"
Sweet Harvest needs a hero. Can you please share about this very special, loving and fun little boy?
He's available for adoption to a very special person only, at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
Some of you have been with us from the beginning, as we took our first
fledgling steps on this digital canvas. You were with us when Allie came
into our lives, and you were there when we lost Ryker so very suddenly.
Some of you joined us more recently, and together we've enjoyed moments
of mischief and mayhem, of laughter and learning and love.
Thank you.
This year alone we've had the joy of bringing before you 40 Waifs and
Shelter Sweeties. Thirty-six of these have found forever families, and we
know that a large part of this has been because of you. You cared, and
you shared. And we are forever grateful.
We're humbled and amazed at the strength and compassion of the community of animal advocates, a community that spans the globe.
Thank you.
We want you to know how very thankful we are -- for your friendship, your warm and funny comments, your fellowship and support.
We wouldn't be here if it weren't for you.
So, from all of us to all of you:
"Pleased to meet you! My name is Trinity, and I think it's because I only have three legs."
"I'm missing my back right leg, but it doesn't get me down at all! I'm a beautiful dilute torbie girl, which means I have both tortoiseshell and tabby markings. (Get it? Tortie + Tabby = Torbie!)
I also have super soft fur, beautiful golden eyes and one of the sweetest faces around. People here at Wayside describe me as an active, friendly kitty who loves being talked to and petted and has a wonderful purr."
We Tripod girls love to participate in Boxing, too! I'm Expert Level!
"I was adopted from Wayside once before, but I did not get along well with the other cats and the dog in the home. Also, I can get a little nippy when the sides of my back are touched. So it's best if I go to a calm, quiet home with no children under 7, and I would love to be the only pet!
At 10 years of age, I'm right in my prime. I'm past all the silly kitten stuff, which means I will be a stable, loving companion. My Felineality personality assessment is Personal Assistant. That means I'm moderately brave in new situations, and I'm very people-oriented.
Whatever you're doing around the house, whether you're cooking dinner or watching TV, I will be right by your side, ready to lend a lovely paw.
If you're looking for a sweet, gentle girl with a lot of love to give, come to Wayside and ask for Trinity, won't you?
Purrs,
Trinity"
Trinity is available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
"Hello my name is Luca, and live in Meow Manison over at Wayside Waifs."
"I am very grateful that you are taking the time to read a little more about me! I am a male black and tan tabby who loves to talk, and is very affectionate.
I came to Wayside because my loving and caring previous person found me as a stray feline, and they were going to try and keep me for their own, but unforturnely their health was not doing so well. My previous person loved and cared for me so much that they knew I would find my furever home here at Wayside."
"I have truly loved my time here, but I am ready for home of my very own. I would really purr your praises if that home would be with you!
I am a front declawed, sweet boy who gets scared with very loud noises, so I probably be my best self in a home without children 7 years old and younger. I will love my snuggle time with you, but will also need some playtime as well. I am a fan of just about any toy out there."
"While being here at Wayside I have found out that my felineality is leader of the band! Being a leader of the band means that I am a pretty brave, confident kitty who does everything in a BIG way. I will be your helper in anyway I can; from having people over to doing chores around the house, if it involves you then count me in!
If you are looking for a furever companion that will greet you with meows and purrs at the door, then will be ready for some quality lap, petting time; then I am the guy for you. I would really love the chance to meet you in person, so please come on down."
"I will be the handsome feline waiting patiently by the door. I'm so ready to meet you, won't you please come see me?
Love,
Luca"
Luca's available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs!
"Hello esteemed citizen, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read about how fantastic I am.
My name is IronMan. Due to my superhero status, it is perfectly acceptable for you to squeal with excitement, or even jump up and down when you meet me."
"I personally prefer the jumping up and down form of greeting, as long as it's followed with a chin scratch and a head pet.
I'm glad I get the opportunity to write a small biography about myself because it helps me to finally announce my Superhero retirement to you all.
Although I'm still very young at 1 ½ years, it's time for me to pass on
my title and enjoy my time in a loving home where I will get attention,
love, and food whenever I feel like it."
"Heeeere I come to save the DAAAAAY!" Oh wait. Wrong superhero. Sorry.
"I can hardly contain my
excitement to meet my forever family. I have so much cuddles, whisker
kisses, and purrs to give!
While I was a stray I was, of course, keeping the peace and defending justice in my city as best as I could -- but a single kitty can only do so much. When I was brought to Wayside Waifs, it was like a weight was lifted off of my shoulders."
As a retired Superhero, I can engage in many fun pastimes.
Like Cat Bearding.
"I was warm all the time, there was always yummy food to eat, and I never went a day without a loving cuddle. There were so many kind people that told me how handsome I was with my big cheeks and soft tabby fur. I didn't know this kind of compassion existed. They made me feel so full of love."
"While at Wayside, they got me all up to date medically and found out
that I'm FIV positive. They assured me that FIV is no big deal. It just
means that my immune system is somewhat compromised, so it's important
that I have an indoor lifestyle, good food, and regular veterinary
checkups.
Those are things a good adopter would give their kitty
companions anyway!"
Check it out. Housecat! I rock at my new career. Ready for my new home - come meet me!
"As if all of this wasn't enough, a wonderful volunteer came in one day and told me they were going to be my Foster Mom! She scooped me up gently into her car and off we went on to a new wonderful adventure.
I love my foster mom so much, and I enjoy showing my affection towards
her by following her all around the house and chattering away about my
day. If you decide to adopt me I sure hope you enjoy having deep
meaningful conversations, because talking is one of my all-time favorite
activities."
Retired Superheros can still protect your home from mice infestations. I got this. See?
"Foster mom also introduced me to the secret art of PLAY!
Wow, playing is fun! We play with wand toys, tiny mice, balls, crazy
circles, and just with each other. I'm still a kitten at heart."
(And purring, and head rubs. Did I mention I LOVE head rubs?)
"Don't worry though; I also thoroughly enjoy a good snuggle session while watching movies on the couch. Foster mom always tells me I'm such a gentleman and that I'm really the perfect house guest. I'll really miss her when I find my forever home, but I know I'm ready to find my own family.
Do you think my home could be with you? I would give you never ending love, and companionship for the rest of my life! Everybody deserves a second chance, especially a superhero. I really hope you decide to meet me; I can't wait to finally meet you.
With justice and love,
Ironman"
Ironman is available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
Yes, our mom is beyond fashionably late. She's been working such long hours at the studio that she says today IS her Wednesday. (Does somebody wanna repair her out-of-whack clock? Anyone?)
But we're glad she didn't forget our friends at Wayside!
We chose Gracie today in honor of Katnip Lounge's Grayce, who recently made her trip to the Rainbow Bridge. May this Gracie find a home as loving as our Grayce had at the Lounge....
________________
"Hi there! My name is Gracie.
My last owner brought me here to Wayside Waifs to give me the second chance at life that I deserve. I'm so lucky she did because I've had the best experience as a Waif.
Even though I love it here, I'm ready to find my furever family and go to my new home.
I'm a beautiful kitty who weighs about 10 pounds."
While I've been at Wayside I've discovered that my Felineality Assessment is the Executive, which means I'm a busy, busy girl. I love to explore my surroundings and check out everything that's going on.
But just because I'm busy doesn't mean I don't enjoy nap time! I'm always on time for that."
"I can be a little shy at first, so I'll need a family who's patient enough to give me time to adjust to my new home. I know with time I'll make the best companion and give so much love and attention to my furever family.
Do I sound like the kind of girl for you?
Come visit me soon at Wayside Waifs, I'd love to meet you!
Purrs,
Gracie"
Gracie is available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
"Hi there! I'm Lucky, and that's what you'll be, too, if you take me home. I'm a gorgeous, four year old tortie girlcat who knows how to enjoy the finer things in life, like ear scratches and feather wands."
"I also like to relax in a nice, dark hiding place, which is why they call me a "private investigator." I adore attention and give lots of head butts, kisses, and purrs, but I prefer not to have my back or tail touched, thanks. (Hey, would you like it if I grabbed your tail?)
I need a home with no kids under 5 years old. Older kids are fine if they understand that sometimes a kitty needs a little personal space.
I'll need some time to adjust to my new home, too, but once I'm comfortable, we'll be best buds in no time. I promise I'm worth a little patience and time! Come meet me soon, okay?
Purrs,
Lucky"
Lucky is available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
"Pleased to meet you! My name is Ray, and as you can see from my photo, I'm a very handsome boy with amazing, velvety blue-gray fur. It really brings out my golden eyes, or so I've been told."
"I was transferred to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space.
Since I've been here at Wayside, I've been pretty quiet. People here say I'm an observant cat who likes to watch all the goings-on around him. There sure is a lot to see here!
I'm a playful guy, and my favorite toy is wand toy. (they totally ROCK) I enjoy being petted on my neck and face.
I can get a little nippy when I've had enough, so it would be best for me to go home with a cat-savvy adopter, who understands feline signals. I do enjoy attention, though, and I'm a great listener."
"There's one more thing you should know about me: I am FIV-positive. FIV is no big deal. It just means that my immune system is somewhat compromised, so it's important that I have an indoor lifestyle, good food and regular veterinary checkups.
Those are the same things a good adopter would give any cat.
If you'd like to root for the Royals with a dapper, blue kitty, please come to Wayside and meet me?
Purrs,
Ray"
Ray is available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
"Hello, my name is Esther. I am living proof that you should never judge a book by its cover. I mean, just look at me - a 13-year-young, spunky Calico with a beautiful balance of love and energy.
At just 5 pounds, I am a wee little cat, often mistaken for a kitten. I love to be cradled like a baby in your arms but can also run throughout your house chasing a toy mouse at warp speed!"
"I'm in foster care because I am happiest when I have someone to share my love. Being alone stresses me out. Foster Mom says I do very well with her other cats and her dog. I have a deep yearning to crawl onto the back of the 70-lb dog to take a nap. He doesn't scare me at all. It just looks like the best bed ever - can you imagine? Unfortunately, the canine does not approve, and Foster Mom keeps scooping me up.
I was found as a stray but once had people who really loved me. My last family took such good care of me that most of my teeth have been professionally pulled. Though it's sad I lost my people, I remain positive for my future.
I have a chronic sneeze from time to time. (Once in a while, you might even need to help me wipe my nose.)
I need a person who will be there for me. Perhaps you are retired, or you work from home? I am not picky, but you see...I don't like being left alone for hours. I would also enjoy a kind dog for cuddling, (though it's not a deal breaker if there isn't one).
I would also prefer a calm home. And since I only have a few teeth, I need a soft, wet food diet.
Please call Wayside to set up a time to meet me.
Foster Mom says you can't help but love me. She is smitten - and is sure you will be too!
Yours forever...I hope,
Esther"
Esther is available today at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs!
"Are you looking for a confident, loving, beauty of a feline to share your days and nights with?
Well then nice to meet you I am Atlantis!
I am a female black and red calico who is looking for a calm and quiet home to share with my loving furever family."
"I first came to Wayside when I was transferred from another shelter that was running a little low on space. I was then adopted by a caring family, but unfortunately it was there that I found out a home with a lot going on is a little to much for me; and my loving family knew that I would find my true forever family here at Wayside!
I am a lady who needs time with my new family, it can take me a little longer to warm up to new people. My time in a shelter has been a good experience, but has shown me that I am independent, and I prefer to be petted and sit on laps on my own terms. I will definitely let you know when I am feeling a love session is needed!
Some of these qualities come from me being a private investigator. Private investigator is my felineality, and it means that I am a shy kitty that will prefer to be behind the scenes. I will always be on the case to show you how much you mean to me in my own special way!"
"Whether it will be a surprise curl up on your lap, or a out of the blue purr with some head butts sprinkled in, you will know that how much I love you. With me being a kitty who enjoys a quieter environment I will ask that my forever home be adults only (and without any of those immature dogs, please!).
I do get along with other cats, but dogs just don't seem to get me. Some of my "dislikes" may have come from me being in a shelter environment as long as I have, and some may come from me being FIV positive.
I know that sounds scary, and I was scared a bit as well when I first found out, but then I discovered that I can live a very normal and healthy life. Being FIV positive simply means that my immune system is suppressed. As long as I have regular wellness exams with my vet and someone who is going to care for me the way I plan on caring for them, then this sounds like the start of a beautiful friendship.
I would really love to meet you in person, so please come on down to Wayside.
Like the lost city, I am a true treasure to behold!
Love,
Atlantis"
Atlantis has been at Wayside for far too long, what say we help get her to her forever family?
"Hi, I'm Everest! I was brought to Wayside because my last owner couldn't take care of me anymore, but that's okay! I've been given another chance at the life I deserve and I've been having a blast as a Waif!"
"Even though being at Wayside is so much fun, I'm ready to find my new family and go to my forever home. As you can see in my photos, I'm a gorgeous feline with a soft, fluffy coat you'll love to cuddle with.
My big, beautiful eyes are sure to catch your attention.
I'm a little shy and timid at first but once I'm more comfortable with you I'm as sweet as can be. Since I can get a little scared in busy or new situations, I need a home with children over the age of 5.
I love playing with my toy mouse and I'll be a great companion to sit back and relax with.
Do I sound like the perfect fit for your family?
If so, come to Wayside Waifs soon, I'd love to meet you!
Purrs,
Everest"
Everest is available today at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs!
"Did you know Monday was Black Cat Appreciation Day? *squeee!*
That means this week is Black Cat Appreciation Week! My week!
Oooooh, I sooooo hope this will be my week - wouldn't it be awesome if I found my forever home today, or tomorrow, or the day after?"
"Do you need a fearless sidekick who's not afraid to take down the
fluffiest toy mouse or tackle the tickliest feather wand? That's me!
I'm Samantha, and I want to be your gal Friday, Saturday, and the whole
rest of the week. I love being petted almost as much as I love to play.
What happened to my ear, you ask? Well, let's just say the sidekick
life can be dangerous sometimes. Don't worry, though. I can still hear
you just fine when you tell me what a gorgeous girl I am.
If you're
looking for a face with character, you've found your match. Oh and - rumor has it that I love to have my face scratched: check scritches are the BEST! And please, won't you join me down here on the floor so I can wind myself around your legs and hang out?
Oooh, I just can't wait
to meet you!
Purrs,
Samantha"
Samantha's available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs!
"Sure, kittens are cute, but come on! I have nine years experience in being adorable."
"I'm Zara, and you won't find a more devoted friend than me.
They call me a "private investigator" because I like to take my time getting to know people. Once I can trust you, though, I'll be hitting you up for back scratches whenever I can get them."
"At my age, I like to take it slow and appreciate the simple things in life-- naps on the couch, a stretch in the sun, and the company of a good friend.
If you need a reminder to take it slow, I'm the girl for you.
Come say hello, won't you?
Purrs,
Zara"
Zara's available for adoption today at Wayside Waifs!
BREAKING MEWS --- 5 PM UPDATE: ZARA IS GOING HOME!!!
