Sunday's Shelter Sweetie: Camila

"You know that great feeling when you know somebody loves you? That's just what I need, because I'm a really good kitty who loves to be loved.

My name is Camila, and I'm looking for my special person - the one who can give me my forever home."

"A very kind person brought me in to Great Plains after she found me wandering outside. I was in a lot of pain at that time, because I hurt by back leg a while before that. But the Great Plains staff has taken such good care of me. I've been here a while, but that's only because they're getting me ready for my forever home.

You see, I have a few special things about me. First, as I mentioned, I had a hurt back leg. Well, that's not a problem anymore because I am now what all the staff and volunteers affectionately call a tripod! I had my leg amputated in April, and now I have no problem hopping around!

I'm also special because when I came in, the staff noticed I was having trouble seeing. Since then, I've lost most of my vision. But, if you watch me explore a new place, you'd never know the difference!

They call me the biscuit maker because that is my BEST talent. Whether I'm making biscuits on you or in the air, it's my favorite thing in the world to do. The best times are when I'm getting petted or held - then I'll make biscuits all day long for you!

My foster mom says I'm the sweetest kitty she's ever met. I take that as quite the compliment! Speaking of petting, you'll notice I have beautiful long fur - it might look black to you, but I assure you, I've got style in my fur. It's an ombre of colors - starting with a smoky black around my face and transitioning in to a chocolaty brown near my belly.

I am very beautiful if I do say so myself! So what do ya think? I'm a pretty great catch - especially if you're looking for a cuddly loving experienced girl. Don't let my special traits stop you from meeting me! Now that they're all taken care of, I'm just like any other kitty - waiting for my forever family."

We love differently-abled cats like Camilla and we're purring she finds her forever home very soon.

Camilla is available at the Merriam Campus of Great Plains SPCA!

Sunday's Shelter Sweetie: Hal!

"Hey there! I'm Hal. Are you looking for a friendly guy to help you make visitors feel welcome? I'm your guy! I like to meet everybody and inspect what's going on."

"Oh, and is your name Dave, by chance? I've been dying to be adopted by a "Dave" - just think how much fun it would be for me to look you in the eye and say, "I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that." (sorry, a bit of geek-cat humor there!**)

Seriously though - when it comes to playtime, that's just the BEST. I like crawling into, out of, under, and over things. Tunnels are pawesome! Of course, I'd also like to lounge around and hang out with you, too.

One thing....it's a bit embarrassing. When I arrived at Great Plains, the docs noticed that my tail was injured. It couldn't be repaired so to save me future troubles they had to remove it.

I do just fine without it though. I think it makes me unique and is a great conversation starter with all those people I like to meet!

Come on down and visit today!
You just may find me wandering around the cattery greeting visitors as they arrive.

Friendly purrs,
Hal"

**Hal was quoting the computer named Hal from 2001: a Space Odyssey.

Hal's available at the Merriam Campus of Great Plains SPCA!

FIV transmission in shelters

Good news for FIV+ shelter cats:

A study found in the August 2014 issue of The Veterinary Journal concludes shelters can house FIV+ cats with seronegative cats without concern that the disease will transmit to non-FIV cats.

The study followed two shelter organizations - one in-home rescue and one foster program - for 38 months. The study found that none of the cats followed changed their status (e.g. none of the non-FIV cats who were examined ended up testing positive during the course of the study).

Chairman Meow is one of three FIV+ cats currently
available for adoption at Wayside Waifs in Kansas City

Hopefully it will be studies like this that will finally reverse the Kansas law that forbids shelters from adopting FIV+ cats into homes. Kansas is the only state in the U.S. that has such a law.

And contrary to popular belief, FIV cannot be transmitted in the same way as feline leukemia or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), both of which are carried in fluids and mucous. FIV is transmitted through deep puncture wounds, not the light scuffle-play that most domestic cats engage in.

To read more about this study, click over to Winn's article, found here.

Sunday's Shelter Sweetie: Swatch!

"Arrr, Mateys!  I'm Swatch and I'm ready for Meow Like a Pirate Day! Or to be a swashbuckling pirate this Halloween. All I need is a kitty sized eye patch and I'm good to go.

Some people call me a Special Needs kitty because I have one eye. And I hear whispers that people think I'm less adoptable because of it.

Arr, I say!  Make'em walk the plank!

I get around just fine!  And when I get time out of my kennel, I jump up and down off the chairs, visit all my buds in their kennels and can spot a cat treat a mile away with my remaining eye.
WORD.
I'm still living the good life, so no pity party for this little dude, 'k?"

"I'm friendly - which goes without saying for orange tabbies. We are known for our friendly personalities. In fact, a lot of people with very little cat experience are advised to choose one of us as we're very easy-going guys and would be a great practice cat.

Notice I said guys, because there are hardly ever any female orange tabbies. Maybe once in a blue moon, but Mother Nature simply doesn't make them. That's okay though - you have ME!

And see?  I'm a very educational fellow to have around, too.

I'm so sweet, loving and playful (Well I'm hardly out of the kitten stage - so I have been known to get a case of the Zoomies once in a while. I'm just TONS of fun!)

I especially like wand toys that I can chase or catch. Do you have any toys like that at your house? I'd love to see 'em. And if the answer is "no", not to worry, we can buy one at the Great Plains gift shop before we go home.

I'm so looking forward to meeting you - thanks for reading about me.
Your buddy,
Swatch"

Swatch is available to come home with you and zoom-zoom-zoom around your living room, TODAY!  Come meet him at the Independence Campus of Great Plains SPCA.

Wed Waifs & Shelter Sweeties: #BlogtheChange

Today, we're joining bloggers around the world as we focus our attention on ways we can Be the Change for Animals.

This time, we're focusing our attention on the plight of black cats.

Did you know they are 5 times more likely to be euthanized in a shelter situation than a cat of any other color?

Today, we're reposting about two special kitties looking for their special families - cats still awaiting their forever homes. We originally told you about these two in August. And yes, they're sadly still awaiting their special human.

And at the end, we'll tell you about another special cat who has been waiting a long, long time for her humans to find her.

***

Linden

First up is Linden. We originally posted about her back in August:

"Thanks for taking a moment to read about me! My name is Linden, and I'm a very friendly and sweet black kitty with amazing green eyes."

"I came to Wayside as a stray. I'm talkative, too. If you come to Wayside to meet me, I will probably greet you with a hearty "Meow!" However, I won't be in the Cat Adoption area. You see, there are lots of cats in there, and I can't stand other cats.

Maybe another cat was really mean to me once -- I can't put into human words what happened -- but I don't like other felines at all and actually scream when I see them. So I need to go to a home where I'm the only feline family member.

But I have such a great personality, I'm all the cat you need. I love attention (from people!) and I will let you know how much I enjoy your affection with headbutts and my great purr that sometimes sounds like a coo.

The Felineality testers here say I'm a Sidekick. That means I'm moderately brave in new situations and I love the company of people. If you take me home, most of the time I will want to be right by your side, keeping you company. But I'm also capable of entertaining myself, too, should the need arise.

If I sound like your kind of cat, please come to Wayside and ask about me, Linden. One of the great staff members or volunteers can take you back to meet me. I can't wait!
Love, Linden"

Linden is available for adoption at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.

Alexander

Next up: Alexander. He charmed his way into our mom's heart with his soulful look:

Hullo. My name's Alexander.
Yeah, I know I probably look a bit long in the face.

It's not that I don't appreciate being warm and dry and having food in my belly. I do, honest!

But... I hear stories. Stories about a place where humans will cuddle you and give you chin scritches and belly rubs. Some place called "home."

And, oh, I don't know. Maybe I'm a bit of a dreamer, but I long for that. Yet I look around me and I see cute kittens, and literally hundreds of other cats in exactly my predicament and I worry.

I worry.

Won't you please come out and meet me? I promise to keep all your secrets and be loyal to you - just you - forever til the end.

Wistfully yours,
Alexander.

Alexander is waiting for you at Great Plains SPCA, Independence, MO.

Snowflake

Third and last up today:
From our friends in the blogosphere, we've learned about the plight of this girl - she's FIV+ (which is a condition overblown by far too many shelters!)

According to Petfinder:
"Snowflake is a sweet girl who is approximately 3 years old and was rescued off the streets by a Good Samaritan.

She is FIV+ but nice with other kitties, so she can safely live a long, normal life with other negative kitties."

"She is playful and loving. She snuggles in bed with her humans. She is great with other cats but afraid of dogs.

She would likely be fine with kids, especially if they play with her.

She has amazing different colored eyes which will capture your heart!

Please consider giving her a furever home. Don't let her test result scare you away- do your research! Snowflake is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

She deserves a second chance!"
Snowflake is at Ohana Animal Rescue in Tempe, AZ.

#LightForPets & Shelter Double-Header

Since someone went AWOL on Sunday *looks meaningfully at Mommy* we missed our regularly scheduled Shelter Sweetie. And yesterday's post for Wednesday's Waif, too.

But that's okay, because today is the perfect day to rectify that.

Today we join with the Helen Woodward Center - and all participating shelters across the U.S. - for Remember Me Thursday. The aim is to shed light on the plight of those animals in shelters still in need of a home.

According to the Helen Woodward Animal Center, only 30% of American households claim rescue animals for a pet. That's shamefully low! And this accounts, in part, for the 3.4 million pets euthanized annually here in America.

So today, we join in lighting a candle (virtually for us, but you can check for participating shelters in your area at this link here) in honor of those homeless pets.

And we wish to shed a light today on two such animals in need right here in our backyard.

Up first, this week's Shelter Sweetie from Great Plains SPCA in Independence:

"Ciao, amici! Hello friends!
My name is Italy. (Betcha couldn't tell, huh?)
I'm a lovely little siamese mix girl just waiting to purr her way into your heart.
Be warned! I'm a real charmer!"

"The staff here at Great Plains love to pet me and call me Mia Bella, "my beauty." That's so sweet of them, don't you think? So when they pet me, I purr up a storm!

I'd love to purr for you, too. Won't you come meet me?

Ciao for now,
Italy"

Italy is available at the Independence Missouri Campus of Great Plains SPCA

  ***

Next, our Wednesday's Waif from Wayside Waifs in Kansas City is a Super Double Top Secret girl.

Any fan of the TV show NCIS will instantly recognize Zivah, that show's stunningly gorgeous Mossad agent. Our Zivah's equally captivating, don't you think?

Zivah is a long-haired tortie girl who is affectionate and loves attention.
She's ready to come celebrate the High Holy Days with you, today!"

Come meet her at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs!

Sunday's Shelter Sweetie: Chad!

"Hello. I'll bet you're wondering what a handsome mancat like me is doing in a place like this."

"Actually, I'm kind of wondering that myself.

Not that it's bad here at all. Three squares and a nice cozy blanket.
But when the lady who took my photo opened my cage to say hello...

Oh my. Attention. Scritches, even.  Sheer bliss.

Is that what it's like in a forever home?
I can hardly wait to find out.

Please come say hello. Who knows? Perhaps we'll never have to say goodbye.
I'd like that, I would.

Yours with rumbling purrs,
Chad"

Chad is extraordinarily sweet and desperate for some loving. If he sounds like he might be your furry soulmate, head on out to Great plains SPCA and tell them Chad sent you.

He's just one of the many adorable adoptables available at the Independence Campus of Great Plains SPCA.

Special Edition Waif: Meet Macy!

We'd like for you to meet Macy. Macy is a total sweetheart - she loves following humans around, chirping and meowing and carrying on complete conversations.

She's so personable and friendly!

She's also a bit obese, and is therefore classified as a special needs cat. Macy needs someone who can help her shed the pounds, but do so in a way that is healthy for her.
Cats who lose weight too quickly are swiftly susceptible to Hepatic Lipidosis, a condition that is often fatal. (Our human's mom lost her kitty to this, so we know how deadly it can be. You can read more about this disease here.)

Please, won't you share Macy with your friends and followers on Facebook, twitter and Instagram? Let's find this sweet girl a home - a good one!

Thank you!

Macy is available for adoption at Wayside Waifs in Kansas City.

Wednesday's Waif: Nightshade

Nightshade is a very special girl, and she deserves a very special home.

This gentle, sweet girl was brought in by animal control recently - with a wound in her neck.
Upon closer examination, the veterinarians at Wayside determined that someone had stuck a needle - with thread - into this poor kitty. Thankfully, she escaped from the creatures who would do such a terrible thing to a cat.

We're so glad she ended up with us and is well on her way to good health. And hopefully soon, a happy home.

You'd think after what she endured at the hands of humans that a cat like Nightshade would be wary but she's the sweetest, most trusting soul.

She's awaiting her forever family at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
Won't you please share the news about this sweet girl and help us find her a home?

Wednesday's Waif: Shirley

"Hiya!
Thanks for stopping by! I think it's just great when people take a look at me.
And let's be honest, why shouldn't they? I'm easy on the eyes, aren't I?"

"My name is Shirley. I am a 9 year old female who was found as a stray. I've been visiting with the wonderful folks here at Wayside for a couple of weeks. It's very nice here.

Have you ever played with a feather wand? If not you should. It's my favorite toy.

I am a big beautiful girl. I have thick fur that is both black and brown.

I have a personality they like to call Leader of the Band. That's because I am adventurous and outgoing. Really brimming with confidence, ya know?

Come give me a pet, I'll purr for you and you won't want to stop.

See You Soon!
Hugs and kisses,
Shirley"

Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Wednesday's Waif: Ramona

"Meow there! My name is Little Ramona, but I have a great big personality! I'm what's known in Felineality circles as a Leader of the Band -- a bold, confident cat who loves people and adventure."

"I'm a very pretty brown and black tabby kitty with super soft fur.

I was transferred to Wayside from another shelter that was out of space. When I came to Wayside, I was in pretty bad shape. I had a terrible upper respiratory infection, which, thankfully, is now cured.

Also, my left front leg was severely atrophied and was hurting me. I must have badly injured it at some point. The vets here at Wayside decided it would be best to amputate it. So now I'm a three-legged kitty.

It hasn't gotten me down at all. In fact, I still love to play with toys, even with just one front paw. People here at Wayside say I'm playful, affectionate, and a "real sweetheart."

I've also been told I have an indomitable spirit. If you're looking for a sweet, beautiful friend who'll help you keep your sunny side up even when life gives you rain clouds, come to Wayside and meet me, Little Ramona!

Love, LR"

Some people might think our little girl here is less adoptable because she's a tripod kitty, but we think that's rubbish.

Differently-abled kitties like our girl here are very special, and we're looking for someone equally special to adopt her.

Are you the one? She's waiting at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.

Thanks to you, A Tonk's Tail is up for the Petties' Funniest Blog Award!
Winning would mean $1,000 for the cats of Great Plains SPCA.
Their numbers are creeping up to 800 - and they are running out of supplies.

You have our heartfelt thanks!

Wednesday's Waif: Decker

"Howdy folks! My name is Decker, and I am so grateful that you took the time to read my profile."

"I am very sleek and stylish all black male kitty who is looking for a partner in this world. I am a very calm, mellow, guy who really enjoys a good petting session.

My felineality is secret admirer; which means that I truly enjoy attention but I also enjoy my solitude. I like to use my alone time to think of ways to show all my love for you!

I came here to Wayside when a very loving and caring person found me as a stray. They would have loved to keep me but I am kitty that would be more comfortable in a home without other cats.

My time here at Wayside has been wonderful, but I am ready to find a forever home, and I am really hoping that home will be with you!

Another interesting fact about me it that I am a FIV positive. FIV is a immunosuppressive disease that is mainly transmitted by deep bite wounds.

I am a very cool cat who can live a very long and full life as long as I have a forever friend who looks out for me the way I will always look out for them.

I would love the chance to meet you so please come down.

Love, Decker"

Shelter Sweetheart: Formerly Feral Edition

Today you get a twofer!

"Hi! We're two very handsome tabby and white kittens - frisky and frolicky and full of love. And looking for our forever family.

My name's Ray, and I came here with my sister Cookie. She and I live together in a playroom and we're finally starting to learn just how great life is!"

"You see, Cookie and I were left off here by someone who thought we were wild. Well, we were a little bit wild at first I guess, but that's just because we'd never really had anyone to love us before.

But once we got here, some of the volunteers started working with us. And you know what we found out? That Cookie and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE people!

Now, don't get me wrong. We can both be a little on the shy side, especially at first. But that's just because we don't have a whole lot of experience yet. So, we're a little careful to start off. But once we know you're the friendly type, we warm up real quick.

I've even been known to push another kitty gently out of the way to get some petting. For somebody who started out shy like me, that's a pretty big step forward! Cookie and I both just love to be petted! And to play!

And every day we're learning about this wonderful world we live in. What we both really need now is someone of our very own to love! And someone who will help us catch up with all the affection and fun experiences we missed out on before we got here. What do you say?

Would you be willing to give one or both of us a second chance in exchange for a life time of unconditional love? Please come down and meet us today! We're anxious to start making up for the time we lost before we came here and found out how great it is to be a kitty who is loved by humans!

Hoping to see you soon!
Ray"

Both Ray and Cookie are available for adoption today at the Merriam Campus of Great Plains SPCA.

Wednesday's Waif: Decker

Wayside's site is down today, so you'll have to make do with video of this handsome guy.

Meet Decker. He was transferred to Wayside from a shelter in Kansas because he's FIV+. And Kansas is the only state in the nation that does not allow shelters to adopt these guys into forever homes.

So Wayside does what it can to transfer as many FIV+ kitties out of Kansas shelters as we can!

(And we're advocating on behalf of FIV+ cats, to help get Kansas laws changed!)

Decker's a wonderfully sweet guy and he's waiting for his forever family to show up and discover him - at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.

Sunday's Shelter Sweetheart: Martina

"Hello!
Did you know? I am one very sweet kitty. I like people a whole lot and get along pretty well with most other cats while out roaming around the cattery here at Great Plains SPCA in Merriam.

That's good, because it is in my nature to do a lot of walking around and checking everything out. You may come in and find me overseeing everyone else's activity - not interfering with it, mind you. Just satisfying my curiosity and getting some free entertainment till my new family comes for me."

"Now one of the first things you may notice about me is some fur missing around my face.

It is because of an allergy, and it has gotten much better since I came here. Tests have shown it is most likely something to do with food, and they have me on a special diet here to test that out.

It doesn't affect my great attitude and I am glad it is not anything someone else can catch!

It would be my pleasure to welcome you to the cattery here, and to share my loving nature with you. We may find that we are just meant to be lifelong friends in our own little household.

Purrs,
Martina Marvelkit"

Martina is available for immediate relocation to your home, and she's waiting for you at the Merriam Campus of Great Plains SPCA!

Sunday's Shelter Sweetheart: Taco

"Hi, Taco here!

I am a distinguished gentleman, looking for a loving home in which to spend my golden years. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not exactly over-the-hill yet! No sir!

I'm 12 years young, enjoying life, and planning to spend plenty more years continuing to do just that."

"The folks here at Great Plains are super, but a guy likes me needs a forever home of his own.

Being an experienced pet, I know that I can bring a lot of love and happiness to whomever will give me that chance. I'm a very sweet guy. I just love to be petted and to cuddle. Give me a nice warm window perch and lots of love and we're set!

I'm too old to climb your curtains, but not to old to climb into your lap!

So I hope you'll come down to Great Plains to meet me today. I've got my bags packed and am ready to go home with you if we hit it off. Time to start enjoying those golden years together. The best is yet to be!!!

Love, Taco"

Wednesday's Waif...on Friday

Strange things happen when your computer goes down.
Fridays turn into Wednesdays, for instance!

Although we're still supervising our mom's repair of the computer, we didn't want our PC troubles to get in the way of telling you about this big lug of a boycat.

So this week, in our own little corner of the blogosphere, Friday is Wednesday.
And here's Wednesday's Waif:
Bear Cat.

"Hi guys! I have a riddle for you:

What is cute, fluffy, and soft all over?

The answer is me: Bear Cat!

I am a white and grey male kitty who is looking for his forever home. I am a very loving, sweet, fun guy who happens to also be FIV positive.

I know that might sound a little scary, but I assure you I am guy who plans to be with you for a while. FIV is a immunesurpressive disease, but with your love and caring I will live to be a very happy, old man!

I came here to Wayside because I was found as a stray, and the caring, loving person who found me knew that everyone deserves a home so they brought me here to Wayside so I could find my forever home, and my forever buddy.

My felineality is personal assistant, which means that I will always be hanging around. I love being there to help you with whatever you need. I am a guy who will love playtime, snuggle time - and shoot, any time in between - as long as we are together!

The vet tech here tells people I'm smart, affectionate and independent. And I loooooooooove head-butts.

"Me, givin' sum BearCat LUV." ~ Bear Cat

And I hate seeing visitors go. I'm just that kind of a sociable guy.

I would love the chance to meet you, so please come down. Just ask for the sweet, loving big ol' lug of a mancat named Bear Cat."

Bear Cat is available for adoption today at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.

Wednesday's Waif: Navan

My heart goes out to this guy.

He clearly falls into the "less adoptable" category on more than one count:

First: he's a black cat. Did you know they're five times more likely to be euthanized in a shelter environment, simply because of their color?

Second, he's blind in one eye.

Third, he's ear-tipped. Yes, some people don't want a scarred cat - and others are wary of what they consider to be a "street cat".

But let me tell you about this lovable guy.
Or rather, I'll let him tell you about himself:

"Thanks for taking a moment to read about me!

My name is Navan, and I'm a handsome shorthaired black kitty with a patch of white on my belly.

I came to Wayside as a stray. I must have had a rough life out there, fending for myself, because I was in pretty bad shape when I got here.

I have multiple scars due to fighting, and my right eye is badly damaged and I can't see out of it. But that hasn't gotten me down at all.

In fact, here at Wayside, I'm becoming known for having one of the best purrs of all the cats here. I enjoy being petted. I will let you know how much, of course, by purring!

And at 6 years of age, I still have lots of playfulness left in me. My favorite toy is a feather wand -- so much fun!

When I had my Felineality test, they said I'm a Leader of the Band! That means I'm a bold, confident kitty who loves people and loves adventure.

Do I sound like the purr-fect boy for you? Come to Wayside and ask for Navan.

Love, Navan"

Navan is available today at Allie's Alma Mater:  Wayside Waifs.

Sunday's Shelter Sweetheart: the Totally FAB #Shay!

"Hi, I'm Shay, and I'm sure hoping my forever purr-son will come and fall in love with me real soon.

You see I've been at Great Plains for a year, and frankly I don't understand what's taking so long for one of you humans to see what a fabulous find I am!"

"I'm four, frisky and fun.

I'm also a fashionista - just look at how I'm rocking my pretty teal collar!

The staff and volunteers here fell for me a long time ago. They know what a happy, frisky, energetic girl I am. Though I'm a petite little girl, I've got a big, big purr-sonality and a huge heart of gold!!! I LOVE to play!!!

I love all kinds of toys, but especially wand toys with feathers on the end of a string! You should see how fast I can run and how high I can jump to "catch the birdie".

And once I've had a chance to work off some of that energy, I'm up for some petting and a quick cuddle or two. Now, if you're looking for a calm, quiet kitty who'll sit on your lap all day, I'm not your girl. But if you're looking for a kitty who's active and playful and in search of the next adventure, I'm the one!

I have to admit that all this energy can be a bit hard for me to control sometimes. I can start playing kind of rough, or can act like a hissy little missy if I'm overstimulated. Maybe a new kitty comes along and he doesn't give me the proper respect.

A lady such as myself holds good manners in high regard, so I might have to give him a gentle correction such as hiss or wave my paw at him. I'm not really bossy: I prefer to think of it as having leadership qualities. Somebody's got to be in charge here, and I think it should be moi. I'm doing much better all the time.

My friends think if I get into a home where I feel safe and have plenty of outlets for my energy and curiosity, I'll do just fine. If you come down to the shelter, you'll probably find me out running around the cattery stirring up excitement. Hey, it's my job and I'm very good at it!

What do you say? Are you up for a game of catch the birdie?

Sunday's Shelter Sweetheart: Walter

"Hey there! Have you ever heard of the "little black cat syndrome?"

Well, it seems that little black cats in shelters tend to take longer to find their forever homes. Yes, it's crazy, but that's the way it is."

"And I should know, because I'm a little black cat who's been waiting far too long.

Not to be immodest, but I just don't understand how people can resist an awesome guy like me! I'm very friendly! I don't know a stranger. I'll come right out to meet you if you come visit me.

I'm playful, too! I'm a young guy who likes to play hunting games. I just love to chase "Da Bird." I'm very curious. I like to check everything out and supervise whatever's going on. And I'm a great sidekick, too.  I'd just love to have a human I could follow around all day.

I could help you with your chores, help you play with your computer, or just snuggle down next to you while you read a good book. And speaking of snuggling, I'm great at that, too! I just love to cuddle and be petted.

I'm hoping my forever humans like to give me plenty of attention. Yep, I'm a little guy who's got all that to offer and more! And it's awfully hard to understand why the fact that it's all wrapped up in a coat of handsome, sleek black fur should hold me back.

To tell you the truth, I think I'm downright cute--and so does everyone here at Great Plains SPCA. So, if you're looking for an absolutely awesome cat to make your life happier, I hope you'll come to meet me! I'm right here, just waiting for you--and hoping you'll come for me soon!

All my love,
Walter"
