But that's not the only design they offer. I had to chuckle at the next two (click photos to go to store).

Yeah, a cation is a real thing. (For those who like to get their geek on, it's an ion with net positive charge, having more protons than electrons. In electrolysis, cations migrate to a negatively charged cathode.

We're so sorry we've not been visiting for a few days. Our mom's been busy organizing a very special event to benefit six area shelters and animal resource organizations in Kansas City ... and it's been devouring her every spare moment. 

She promises she'll have time for us tomorrow!

CPR Basics for Cats and Dogs

The University of Washington School of Medicine has published the following information as a free public service. It provides a basic, high-level overview on how CPR is administered to a dog or a cat.

The University of Washington has a wonderfully extensive site on CPR in general that you can access here, complete with video demonstrations, information on choking victims, and a link to a free mobile training app.

But as informative as all this content is, they would like to caution you:

It can never replace real CPR or First Aid training. 

We join the University of Washington in urging you to try to attend a CPR training course in your community so that you're properly equipped to help save a life - animal or human.

The shriek that was heard around the world

It all began quite normally for a Caturday. We kitties were enjoying the sun puddles and whiffs from open windows while the humans were out in the yard.

Though spring is taking its sweet time, mom had brought in cuttings off the peach tree that dad had trimmed, and the warmth of the house promoted bloomage.

Allie was ecstatic. They were pink, after all.

But then - horrors!

 

We hear Allie's doing quite well in therapy.

And we know what would soothe her frayed nerves, too - a vote for her in tomorrow's  Next Top Cat bracket playoff. The competition is fierce, true. But they don't know Allie.

You simply do not come between a cat and her pink.

Pet First Aid Classes - Worldwide!

Did you know that the American Red Cross offers Pet First Aid classes in the U.S.?

Price and availability vary by location, and it may be a while before the class is offered in your area so keep checking back by filling out the "Register for Classes in Your Area" section. (I know I'll need to - the site came back with a "no classes available within the next 31 days" for my location)

Pet First Aid classes are not exclusive to the U.S. either. In Canada, Walks 'n' Wags Pet First Aid offers programs all across Canada and North America.
