I got my very own lap for the holidays - and it was amaaazing.
But then I ended up back on the streets. I found my way back to the folks at KCPP and they gave me a nice warm place to hang out until I find my true, keeper lap.
Second time's the charm - right?
Thoughts? Ideas? The wording for ads like these is so critical, I think - don't you?"
"Let me assure you - I know all about laps. You could even say I'm a bit of a lap connoisseur!
The folks around here say I'm quite the social cat. If you come near my kennel, I'll be right there, waiting to see if you are going to open the door. I'm exceedingly pettable, if I do say so myself, and I have incredibly soft fur. If you'll come over to visit, just take a seat so I can test drive your lap, please?
I don't ask for much in a forever home, just people who will always love me (that's the "forever" in fovere home, you know?).
And of course someone who will let me sit in their lap. (no other kitties, please - I am kind of selfish of your time that way. *embarrassed look*)
And at 11 years young, I've left all that silly kitten-headed nonsense (like ricocheting off your forehead at 4 in the morning) behind me, too. Isn't that a win-win?
Winter's here! Wouldn't you like full-time access to a gorgeous lap-warmer like myself?
Purrs and head-butts,
Lexy"
Lexy was adopted shortly after her post in October, but recently she was returned to the shelter by a Good Samaritan who found her wandering alone in the neighborhood.
We are so grateful she found her way back to the safety of the shelter and the people who love her.
Since returning to the shelter, she has found her voice and has been regaling staff and volunteers nonstop with stories of her adventures. While they haven't quite figured out exactly what it all means, they are pretty sure it includes how glad she is to be safe again and to see all her old friends.
She's also been demanding nonstop love, attention and treats (and getting them!).
This sweet girl deserves the very best of homes, and finally, at long last, a warm, loving lap all her own. Won't you please share to help us make that happen for her as soon as possible?
"Hello!
My name is Carolyn and I'm one of the most beautiful girls at Wayside,
or so I've been told."
"I'm a dilute tuxedo torbie, which means I have
some tabby stripes, beautiful blue-gray and apricot spots, and a white
bib, boots and gloves. So I'm perfectly dressed for any occasion."
"I came
to Wayside from another shelter that was low on space, and I'm thrilled
to be here, where I just know I will find my forever home - and loads of belly rubs."
"I'm a sweet kitty who enjoys attention. I'm not fond of being picked up,
though. For that reason, I shouldn't live in a home with children under
age 5. Little kids, you see, don't always follow a kitty's wishes.
I looove hanging out with other cats, though."
"What
else would you like to know about me? I have an adorable little meow, a nice purr - and I know how to wink! (see Exhibit A, above)."
"I'm playful, and my favorite toys are mice and wands.
(Betcha couldn't tell, huh!)
If
you're looking to start off 2017 with a sweet, beautiful new friend,
please come to Wayside and ask for me!
Love,
Carolyn"
Carolyn's available and ready to settle in with her new humans, at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
When last we left you, Faraday had decided that everykitty in this house needed to be as fit as he is.
So he ordered a Pawbo+ Interactive Pet Camera, complete with a Laser Pointer Game (and way cool treat dispenser, but we digress) to get Maxie up and running.
While Faraday does a little light reading, here's my impression of the camera:
The interface is the easiest of any wireless camera I've yet to try out. It immediately found my network, prompted me for the password, and - done. And it reconnects automatically when I move it from room to room and plug it back in.
The second feature I really reeeally like: it automatically syncs with my existing cloud account for any video you want to record. (Still photos save directly to your phone)
In my case, it's a Google Drive account, but it also interfaces with Dropbox. Downloading video clips is a breeze, and you don't need any fancy video app to play the clips - I tested them and they played fine with QuickTime.
This is nice, since I've heard other brands (none that I've ever used, though - so this is hearsay) require a cloud subscription for a fee, to access the footage.
This shiny new addition to our home comes complete with red dot and treat dispenser!
To be honest, about the only feature I can think of that the Pawbo+ camera doesn't
have is the ability to pan and tilt. I'm not sure how much that would
add to the final cost of the camera, but that's a feature I really enjoy, so I'd be interested in that addition.
The
camera's not cheap - it retails for $199 - so if you're in it for
that much and a pan/tilt feature was just an incremental cost, I'd want that on future models.
And of course, there's the Red Dot.
And .....
We can confirm the treat dispenser works. Very well, indeed.
Allie: Wait. Is that a treat dispenser I spy????
Yep. Want to see how well it works?
Faraday: Remember, Allie. I'm in control of the remote, so you only get treats when I say so.
Faraday controls the mobile phone app after reading on the Pawbo+ website how to use it
And I say you have to exercise first to earn them.
Allie: You are such a brat.
Maxwell: Whewww, whatta workout. I'm beat.
Allie: Really, Max? Really? You didn't even break a sweat. That's just a play for sympathy, and - newsflash - no one's falling for it.
Maxwell: Well in that case, I'll just head on over to my lounger ... unless you plan to push that treat button again?
Faraday: (yelling from off screen) You gotta EARN those, Maxie. Now drop and give me fifty! Maxwell: That's exactly what I plan to do: drop into my lounger and give you a good fifty minutes of snooze time, starting .... NOW.

"I'm so glad you "spotted" me! Hi, my name is Merarr, and I'm a super cute shorthaired black and white kitty with the cutest little spot right under my nose. It's my half-'stache, and it really brings out my gorgeous golden eyes and adorable pink nose."
"I came to Wayside as a stray, and I'm delighted to be here, where I just know my forever person or people will walk through the door and fall in love with me.
I'm a playful, active, affectionate girl who loves toys. What's my favorite? All of them! That makes sense, because when I had my Felineality test here at Wayside, they told me I'm a Party Animal!
That means I'm a bold, confident, adventurous cat who always knows how to have a good time.
Could you use a little more fun in your life? Please come to Wayside, ask for me, Merarr, and we will get the party started!
Love, Merarr"
Merarr's available and ready to settle in with her new humans, at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
When last we left you, Faraday had "resolved" to help Maxwell "get fit." We join our story, in progress:
Faraday: "insert tension rod into weight grip"... uh-huh ... *flips page in manual* Maxwell: Dood, I'm not sure about this exercise thing ....
Faraday: Yada, yada, Maxie. You have to tone that belleh if you wanna be a housepanther like me.
Good thing I'm licensed as a Purrsonal Trainer.
Can't you just see yourself busting reps with those pawbells?
Maxwell: *sniff* No. Not really. Faraday: Now Maxie, just let me finish setting this weight bench up ... there you go!
*cue tah-dahh SFX*
Maxwell: uhhh, I don't think --
Faraday: Perfect! We'll get you started right away.
I'm offering the first month FREE as a New Year's special. (After that, it's just easy monthly installments, direct deposited from your allowance into my account.)
Just sign this contract here and I'll have you fit in no time.
Please click to biggify and to read "fine print"
Maxwell: Dood, the only activity I'd participate in involves the Red Dot. Faraday: Well, you coulda said that before I invested in that torture device equipment, Maxie. Seriouslies.
Disgusted Faraday is disgusted.
Faraday: That's okay, I can work with that.
In fact, I have just the thing.
Why don't you just sign that contract, Maxie, while I get this all set up.
Maxwell: I, uh, think I better have Momma my lawyer read this first ....
Faraday: mumble-mumble plug it in, uh-huh mutter-mumble download the mobile app ...
MOMMY! I need your mobile phone, STAT!
That's right, folks. Faraday got a Pawbo+ Interactive Pet Camera to go along with those pawbells ... and he's ready to turn Maxie into a lean, mean purring machine*.
(*Your mileage with Faraday's Fitness may vary. Purrsonal training fees may will apply. Faraday's Fitness accepts all major credit cards, wand toys and bonito flakes.)
