Color or Black & White: Can you tell?

Today's Photohunt word is "Colour". So we thought we'd combine it with our Cat Art Blog Hop entry and pose the following question:

Is this a black and white photo, or not?

You can probably tell that there is just the barest shade of color added back into Faraday's eyes. While experimenting with contrast and color settings, I noticed that adding a shade of color back in brought more life to the photo.

Any more and it looked odd. Any less and it looked flat.

There are many famous photographers who use selective color to great effect.

  4. That photo is so stunning. Mom hopped over and looked at the other similarly-done photos. They are terrific. Can you tell us how you did yours? Mom just got Adobe Photoshop Elements 12. Will she be able to do something similar with it? Thanks for sharing something so lovely. Have a great weekend. 5. I have begun (well I started last fall) re editing Abby's photos into b/w with just her eyes in color. I am dating the photos too for my own use and to be able to know when they happened.

  16. So Faraday...does everything you see have an aqua tint to it?
    ; )

Very beautiful by the way... you're right about how a little bit is what makes it. Glogirly tried that once with Waffles. A black and white Waffles with full-strength yellow eyes is downright SCARY!
