Cats vs. Dogs Infographic
Thanks to Veterinary Technician Schools for this interesting infographic.
"Which pet is superior?" the web site asks. "Cat owners are smarter. Dog owners are healthier.
Cats can take care of themselves for longer than 24 hours. Dogs are always excited to see you.
"There are pros and cons to both cats and dogs, and in this infographic, we attempt to answer the age-old question: which is the better pet?"

"Chews on slippers and other personal belongings" - We think there should be a cross for cats too. Mommy says we've chewed through so many cables and decorations and plants.....
ReplyDeleteHey. What about people who have both cats AND dogs? Does that make them smarter and healthier? :p
We say....yup! We're sure of it! And uh...yeah *glares at Faraday* about that chewing thing....
DeleteUh, those costs are grossly underestimated. Are they from the 1970s? LOL.
ReplyDeleteIn my case, with the two boys, I have a budget of $200 *per month* for cat food, and that's not even top of the line food. (It's significantly more expensive in Canada than in the US.) My litter budget *per month* is $60. I've spent $10,000 on vet costs on 3.5 years -- money I actually don't have. And that certainly doesn't count taxi fees back and forth, and doesn't count a lot of angel Annie's meds for her hyper-t. Supplements, toys and treats run about another $30+ *per month*. And I know you sure as heck can't have a female cat spayed for a mere $145. LOL.
I think it's a fun graphic, but that part, at least is WAY off base and out of touch with today's costs.
I only wish it were that inexpensive to have cats -- I could have more if it were! LOL!
MOWZERS, litter is $60 per month for you guys? OUCH!
DeleteBut yeah we agree, we think they underestimated the costs, too. Our food budget is about that per month, not per year. Wonder what they used as a gauge for these? Though the insurance fees *can* be that low annually, depending on if you're just getting a catastrophic policy vs one with more coverage. And the vet $ is obviously for a single wellness visit and not taking any illnesses into consideration.
(Whew, Maxie's first year with all his ear troubles was a LOT more than that for us! Thankfully he's robustly healthy now!)
I don't know, I would think grooming should be under recurring expenses.. and quite a few cats have to be regularly groomed. Yup, chewing can also be an issue, as Twee chewed through several pairs of shoe laces and a bra..
ReplyDeleteBut as a quick lookie loo for fun, it's adorable.
We agree - some parts are fun, some are WAY off base. And as for the chewing...*glares at Faraday*...
DeleteHmmmm! Austin has never chewed through anything that I’ve noticed! He doesn’t like being ignored! He’s even gone for walks with me! There should be a category for grumbling. Austin can grumble for Europe ! Is he intelligent? Ha! He’s looking over his glasses at me ;)
ReplyDeleteThey just did not want to admit that we cats are better! ;-)
