Maxwell: dood, you were NOT. You did a door-dash and Momma ran after you.
Faraday: (dismissively) Whatevs.
As is was saying... I was out in the garden - the orchard, actually - and I noticed Daddy's trees had tons of these ginormous green things on them! I had to go investigate.
Maxwell: dood, first off, the "orchard" is two trees in the side yard. And secondly, the only reason you can show off that you were outside is because Momma grabbed the camera on the way out the door to shove you back inside!
Faraday: Seriouslies, Maxie, you're throwing off my rhythm here.
I was about to show off all the stuff in those trees. Believe me, you don't want to nom on any grass under them - those things are projectiles! They keep falling on you! (rubs noggin)
Maxwell: I've been watching what Papa does with them. He's been doing something on the stove....
Allie: Mother says it's pear butter. And weren't they surprised to arrive at their B&B in Mendocino last weekend to find the very same, home-grown, homemade dish!
Mendocino Farmhouse breakfast nook (pear butter just below frame, sorry :-) |
Maxwell: Back to those pear things. Even though there's no tuna in it, whatever papa's doing sure makes the house smell gooood. M-m-m-m-m....
*drool coma* |
Almost as good as those thingies Momma was making for the High Holy Days.
Fruit challahs. A lot of you saw our post on Facebook, for those of you who didn't, here they are:
Front: Apple-raisin Challah, Upper L: Mexican Chocolate, Upper-R: Apple Cream Cheese Challah |
Faraday, come over here annytime and I will show a fellow Tonk the outdoors in a safe backyard! ~ IZA
ReplyDeleteBonito flake challah sounds pretty delicious to us, too, Faraday! Do be careful about those green projectile things in the, um, orchard. :)
ReplyDeleteThose challah sounds delicious to mom ! Be careful next time you go in your great wild orchard ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteMommy says those challahs look so delish! All three kinds! And we've never had pear butter.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be over this afternoon ;)
ReplyDeletePear-shaped fail for Faraday, win for the humans!
ReplyDeleteOur local synagogue does a Tashlich ceremony on Rosh Hashanah by tossing chunks of bread, to represent the past year's transgressions, off a bridge into the creek to let the water carry them away. I presume these fancy challah were what you used to carry off your sins? :)
Yummy and our pears for some reason has not been as good this year but we still have a good enough harvest. Have a serene and easy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Bonito Flake challah sounds yummy! Not so sure about pear butter though! I think I would prefer regular butter... no matter what my human says. She is a big pear fan.
ReplyDeleteOh! Nice looking pears, but NOT as good looking as either yous Faraday or yous Maxwell and mes too thinks tuna challah would bes fabulishious!!
ReplyDeleteKisses

Pears are my favorite fruit but sadly the male person does not like them so I will not be getting pear trees any time soon. I would love to see photos from your trip
ReplyDeleteFaraday you need a "pear helmet" like my "acorn helmet"......projectiles are painful on the noggin! Anyway, love the photos - especially the challah....MMMM.....my Mom and I would LUV to see more photos of the B&B by the way....we like that kinda stuff.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy

Poor Faraday, your brother doesn't make it easy for you to be a big explorer does he?
Well Faraday we thought your tale was going to be good! We want to live with you where your Mom cooks such yummy looking food.......
ReplyDeleteApple cream cheese?! Yummy! Faraday, I think those pears fall on your head, because you aren't supposed to be outside! Karma Kat ☺

We hope this isn't a duplicate comment because we have such a hard time commenting thru Feddly on iPad. But can we come over for a meal at your house?
ReplyDeleteYour story sounds like something cat bro Bert would come up with. He is always making door dashes and thinks he is so smart. Mom has foiled his plans, though as she trained Bailie "get the kitty" which means Bailie takes off after Bert and tackles him to the ground. It is humorous to watch and boy does he get pissed about it. We don't have an orchard, though.
ReplyDeleteHoly moly! Those pears could knock you out cold if one fell on your head!
ReplyDeletebeware of falling fruit. :) we would love to see pictures of your mom and dad's get away
ReplyDeleteBONITA FLAKE CHALLAH???
ReplyDeleteCan we get two of those? To go.
Wow...our dad makes Challah, but he's never made any flavored ones. Mom says she is putting in a request right now. Mom is an idiot. She thought those things on the tree were lemons. She also thinks that trip sounds lovely. She says she hasn't been in that area in years, and it is so beautiful. She hopes your humans had some good wines. ReplyDeleteGuys, you have made me and The Staff drool here!! It's embarrassing!!
ReplyDeleteDang, there sure is a whole lotta yum going on here, that orchard must be something!!!
ReplyDeleteMan that looks tasty. Altho' we have trees they are mostly taller and thinner so they don't fall on us (well yet anyways)
ReplyDeleteHarvey Miranda and Silver
Faraday, embellish away sweetie...it makes life far more more interesting! Pear butter? How delicious does that sound? Tres! And those fruit challahs? We will be right over! Drooling as we exit house...

P.S. France, the cat, is incredibly adorable! She reminds us of Esme. Fingers crossed that someone falls in love with her :)
A bonito flake challah?? Now you're talking, Faraday!
ReplyDeleteBonito flake challah....I think you have a unique idea Faraday. And maybe a nice tuna pate' spread to go with.
