Thankful Thursday

It is good to have annual reminders of the things we surely feel every day, yet often do not voice.

With Thanksgiving one week from today, we'd like to take this opportunity to say:
We're thankful for YOU.

~ . ~

Be sure to check out this week's uber adoptable kitty, Punkin!

Thursday's Purrs: Punkin

"Hi there, and it's soooo nice to meet you!

My name is Punkin, and the volunteers over here tell me I'm the epitome of a friendly cat. I do love me some human interaction, if I do say so myself!"

"I have to admit, I'm mostly a low-energy kind of a girl, but I completely endorse playtime -- as long as it doesn't require too much exertion. Purrsonally, I think iPad games are da bomb. And red dots? Totally pawesome. If you meet with my approval, I'll even sit on your lap while you brush me!"

"And oh - by the way - any accusations of me scrounging for food in other cats' kennels are completely unjustified *delicate burp*. (wait, what do you mean by "she ate the evidence"?!?)

I've been told I'm 'plump, pretty, and happy' but I prefer to think of it as there's just more of me to love!

Hope I get to meet you soon,
Purrs, Punkin"

Better Get Drive-Thru

*lick*lick*lickety*lick*

They say you're s'posed to wash your paws real good before touching foodables an' stuffs.
And I totes did that (pleez see photographic evidence) before packing Mommy's lunch for her.

Did you know yesterday was Pack Your Mom's Lunch Day?

After a good wash, I had ta inspect the lunch bag.
An' then I went and got lotsa bonito flakes - from Maxie's share of the supply.

Maxwell: dood, uh, wait ....

Maxwell: Don't you need to put people food in there too? (not that I'm trying to protect my bonito flake stash or anything)

Here, let me lend a paw. You know how she likes chocolate. Drag that bag over here and I'll nudge a few of these chocolates in there for her.

Allie: *sigh-h-h* Thank cod today's Fast Food Day.

Something tells me Mother won't be touching anything in a bag those boys have put together!

What's your Monday setting?

Ours is on "early-morning low," but we plan to increase the volume to "afternoon rock-out" as soon as Maxie gets his second wind.

Now, if only we could figure out how to stream this ....

A few weeks ago, we were contacted by Thoroughly Reviewed who informed us we were in their top 50 cat bloggers list - and we thank them for including us.

We also want you to know there are many amazing cat blogs out there that were not on the list.

Here is a sampling of just a very, VERY few of them. These are blogs that we love visiting, and whose antics make us laugh out loud.

They include Summer of Sparklecat.com, the crazypants kitties of Katnip Lounge, and the devotion to research from authors like the human of Ashton, Pierre and Newton over at Sometimes Cats Herd You.

There are so many more, but to keep this from being TLDR*, we'll end with three truly unsung heroes, the ones who devote countless hours to fostering and being a voice for shelter cats, as chronicled by the Random Felines , Animal Shelter Volunteer Life and our sweet aunt Connie at Tails from the Foster Kittens.

(And if you haven't heard, she and our uncle Glenn lost their sweet Kit to cancer this week. Please go over and send them loads of hugs and love. They sure could use it right now.)

*TLDR = too long, didn't read  :-)

Thursday's Purrs: Penny

"Hello, and thanks for taking a moment to hear my story.
My name is Penny. I'm a torbie girl (that's a tortoiseshell/tabby combination) and folks say I got my name from the beautiful coppery spots in my luxurious coat.

I came to Wayside because my previous person passed away.

It's sad, and a bit daunting, to be honest -- starting over at the age of 10. But that's just middle age for a cat."

"I'm thankful to have a second chance to start a wonderful new life with a very special someone. I do tend to be shy at first, but if you approach slowly and gently, I warm up pretty quickly. And even though I am shy and cautious, I do love people very much.

It might take some time to get to know me, but trust me, I am worth it. I'm really a big cuddle bug at heart, and would love to snuggle next to you. I love being brushed, and will purr like a little motor boat for you!"

"I'd love to go to a home with a nice window that will let me observe all of the interesting things that the outdoors has to offer. (I've been known to binge-watch the BirdTv channel here at Wayside *embarrassed look*)

I don't mind being picked up sometimes and i have also done well coexisting with other feline friends. Let's have our first conversation today, at Wayside!?
Love, Penny"

Penny's available at Allie's Alma Mater, Wayside Waifs.
