Resolution: Pet Fitness?
Maxwell: Don't mind me, I'm just doing a bit of stretching before my Paw-lates class.
Maxwell, is that your New Year's Resolution? Paws up, dood!
Seriously, pet fitness is not necessarily a laughing matter, considering that a few years ago, a study was published that stated obesity in cats had increased by 90%.
You can help your cat become more physically fit by encouraging him to increase his activity. The above link and this one here provide you with helpful tips you can use to encourage your cat to move a bit more.
How about a new year's resolution for us cat owners? Commit to more playtime each week. Not only is physical activity healthful, it provides your pet with much needed socialization and enrichment time. The benefits may even include less mischief around your home!

Good for Maxwell! paw-lates!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat moves (and advice), Maxwell!!!
ReplyDeleteMy latest weight loss plan for the boys was to foster kittens. It worked! I also head to the basement to ride my exercise bike and they join me down there, run around and play. Glad I can be an inspiration.
ReplyDeletePawlates-I like that :) You should have a weekly class on it. I agree that play time should be a necessity for our kitties.
ReplyDeleteWe are all furry and non-furry family members on a fitness program ...some need more help than others
ReplyDeleteKudos to yous guys!

You are looking so cute and stretched there :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd great post! Playtime is very important for good health and relationship between kitties and humans!
You're a great role model Maxwell.
ReplyDeleteThe Farm cats do a lot of running around whether it be chasing mousies or up on the walls of the yurt.
ReplyDeleteI keep Binga and Boodie running around here, playing with me, and I'm sure that is really good for them!
ReplyDeleteMaxwell, you're already looking fit and trim.
ReplyDeleteDerry's idea of playing is to hang over a cat tree and swat at something for 30 seconds. :-P

ReplyDeletewe gotta get mom on board with that....although Daiquiri already thinks it is great - a rousing game of fetch every night before bed :)

Paws up for spending more time playing with us! If the humans would put down the computer mouse and pick up the wand toy, that would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteLess mischief!? Now what fun would that be? Maxwell, you are adorable doing your exercises. If a handsome dude like you would lead an exercise class, we girls would be there in a heartbeat. (Mom too!) XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteMy New Year's resolution is to do more yoga! I don't think I relax enough. ;) ~Wally
ReplyDeleteStretches are good, as are short sprints, jumps and pouncing.
ReplyDeleteExercise is good. We try to get ours outside, but the weather has been rotten lately. So on bad days, TBT tosses toys and kibbles for longer than usual.
ReplyDeleteDaddy recently parked a wand toy in his office and now it's one of our fave play arenas!
ReplyDeleteGreat stretch Maxwell. I'd like to play more often, but right now I'm in my perch snoozing, and snoring! I did chase a few balls the other day.
ReplyDeleteStretches is furry ipawtent before you play around , I always do that too :)
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Good idea, Maxwell! Our dad must have read your mind because we get play time (TOY!) almost every evening now. You should see us girls jump! Even brother Maxx gets into it!
ReplyDeletewe totally need video of the Paw-lates class
